Where founders find their people

A small, once-a-year gathering somewhere warm. Days on the water, long dinners, and the honest founder conversations you can't have anywhere else.

20–30 founders Sun and open water Once a year, every autumn

A small group of founders, one lagoon, and the honest conversations that are hard to have when you're the boss.

We started Founders' Lagoon because the best moments at every event were never on the stage. They were the honest, off-record talks between people building real things. So we built the whole thing around them.
What it really is

It's who's in the room

01

Every stage in one room

First-timers, second-timers, and founders with several exits behind them. The value is the mix: whoever you talk to, someone is a step ahead of you and someone is a step behind.

02

War stories without the spin

Nobody's performing here, and nobody pretends it's all going great. You get the honest version of the hard parts: co-founder splits, near-death months, the exit that almost wasn't.

03

Personal sparring

Bring the decision you're actually stuck on. Leave with a handful of people who have been there and sharper thinking on what to do next.

How the days flow

Two halves to every day

Every day has both the water and the table. Which comes first just depends on the wind.

On the water

Wingfoil, kite, surf or SUP with our own instructors, depending on what the wind and the waves are doing. You need no experience and no athletic background. Just an open mind.

The sessions

One shared talk to open things up, with a single speaker. Then small groups of five or so, where everyone actually gets to speak and nobody hides at the back.

Long dinners

Shared tables, good wine, and the conversations that run past midnight. This is the part people remember.

Most people last year had never even heard of wingfoiling, and plenty worried everyone else would be a pro. Nobody was. That is exactly what the instructors are for.

Scenes from Lagos

Our first edition brought twenty founders to the Algarve for four days on the water and around the table. Here's a glimpse.

From the founders who came

What people took home

"Incredible how much you get out of spending a couple of days with twenty strangers. And it was just genuinely, ridiculously good fun."

Emil Knudsen

"I went hoping to get out of my comfort zone, meet new people and be more social with strangers. It delivered on all three — and I had an amazing time doing it."

Lars Hvattum

"I came in chewing on a big decision I'd been going back and forth on, and left with far sharper thinking on it. Well worth the trip."

Same concept, a new coastline. It could be Southern Europe, it could be Morocco or Turkey. We keep the spot under wraps until the list hears it first.
